2025-12-21-2130-M 42 - Orion Nebula and NGC 1977

The lovely and iconic Orion Nebula and its reflective Running Man neighbor. Using a smart telescope with a One Shot Color (OSC) camera and an integrated OIII 30nm / H? 20nm dual narrowband filter, I collected and stacked 888 subframes. The data was processed in PixInsight, with final color and levels adjustments completed in Photoshop. The image highlights the brilliant H II region of Orion, energized by the Trapezium stars, along with its intricate dust lanes and glowing emission structures. Just above it, NGC 1977 provides a striking contrast: a reflection nebula illuminated by nearby hot stars, giving it its signature blue tones and the faint silhouette reminiscent of a running figure.
