v1981 Cig

While in Wimberly, TX last night, my son and I decided to do a bit of astrophotography. It was a perfect clear night and we decided to shoot V1981 Cig. That is the bright orange/red star just right of center, embedded in that reddish Cygnus nebulosity. V1981 Cyg is a luminous super giant about 4,000 light years away from earth. The light you are seeing from it started its journey back during the Bronze Age.
